TOKYO, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar maintained upward momentum and briefly rose above the 113 yen line on Thursday in Tokyo on gains in equity markets globally.
At 5 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 112.67-68 yen compared with 112.88-98 yen in New York and 112.50-52 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday. It moved between 112.63 yen and 113.14 yen during the day.
The euro fetched 1.1813-1814 dollars and 133.10-14 yen against 1.1781-1791 dollars and 133.06-16 yen in New York and 1.1761-1762 dollars and 132.31-35 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
