Dollar edges up to mid-112 yen zone amid speculations on Fed's new chief

TOKYO, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar rose to the mid-112 yen zone Wednesday in Tokyo amid speculations on the choice of the new chief of U.S. Federal Reserve.

At 5 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 112.50-52 yen compared with 112.16-26 yen in New York and 112.12-13 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Tuesday. It moved between 112.14 yen and 112.53 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.1761-1762 dollars and 132.31-35 yen against 1.1761-1771 dollars and 131.96-132.06 yen in New York and 1.1772-1773 dollars and 131.99-132.03 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday afternoon.
