COLOMBO, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will bring more changes to the world as China becomes the standard-bearer of globalization, said General Secretary of Sri Lanka's Communist Party D.E.W. Gunasekara.

In his speech delivered Wednesday at the opening session of the CPC congress, Chinese President Xi Jinping said China would focus on development at home and around the world, Gunasekara noted.

"Today we live in an independent and integrated world. Therefore, whatever happens in one country affects other countries. No one can live in isolation," he said.

Noting that China is now holding the banner of globalization, he hailed China's contributions to tackling such important global issues as climate change, the global financial crisis, poverty and social inequality, as well as the global refugee crisis.

In addition, he also lauded China's courage to combat corruption in recent years.

"Today, corruption has become a global menace," he said, adding that China's fight against corruption has set a good example for the whole world.
