CAXITO, Angola, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- More than 400 pieces of unexploded ordnance were destroyed Friday in the municipality of Dande, Angola's northern Bengo province, by the National Demining Institute (INAD).

Among the destroyed ordnance were 10 anti-personnel mines, an anti-tank mine, 139 projectiles, 12 rockets, 15 pieces of ammunition, 33 grenades and 224 pieces of various low-caliber ammunition.

Paulo Kangandjo, head of the brigade of the INAD, said in a statement that the unexploded ordnance were collected in various localities of the province.

The INAD action aims to have Angola free of landmines planted all over the country during the civil war that broke out in 1975 and lasted nearly 30 years.
