OTTAWA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Canadian police said they arrested a man on Sunday suspected of carrying out "acts of terrorism" that injured four people and an officer.

The man attacked a police officer controlling traffic outside a football game with a knife in Edmonton, Canada, on Saturday night.

A van later struck and injured four pedestrians during a high-speed chase.

Edmonton Police Chief Rod Knecht said they believe that the 30-year-old man acted alone in carrying out these attacks, but are not ruling out other participants.

The police officer was not critically injured.

A black ISIS flag was seized from a car where the police officer was attacked.

"Based on evidence at the scenes and the actions of the suspect ... it was determined that these incidents are being investigated as acts of terrorism," Knecht said.
