ISLAMABAD, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces have killed one terrorist and apprehended 26 others during search operations in the country's southwestern Balochistan and eastern Punjab provinces, the military said on Friday.
An army statement said security forces conducted intelligence-based operations on terrorists' hideouts in Mastung and Rojhan Jamali areas of Balochistan province, during which one terrorist was killed and seven arrested.
"The terrorists were involved in target killing and hand grenade attacks," a statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, adding that cache of arms and ammunition including explosive were also recovered.
The statement further added that paramilitary troops along with police and intelligence agencies conducted operations in various parts of Punjab during last 48 hours including DG Khan, Attock, Islamabad and Lahore.
"A total of 19 terrorists and their facilitators were apprehended and large number of illegal weapons and ammunition of different caliber recovered," the statement said.
The operations are part of the intelligence-based operation code-named "Raad-ul-Fasaad" or "Reject Discord" in English, which started in February this year after a series of terrorist attacks that killed over 100 people in the country.
