MINSK, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The number of ceasefire violations in southeast Ukraine began to increase, said Martin Sajdik, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)'s special representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine on Wednesday.
The number of ceasefire violations in the conflict zone in Ukraine increased by 5 percent over the past week, Sajdik said.
Due to the start of the cold period, the diplomat paid great attention to providing proper living conditions for the civilian population.
"They need uninterrupted power and water supplies, the possibility to freely cross the contact line, and to stay safe in conditions of the conflict," he added.
The official urged the parties to separate forces and assets near Stanitsa Luganskaya and Zolotoye as soon as possible, as stipulated in the trilateral contact group's framework agreement on Sept. 20, 2016.
The next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine will take place in Minsk on Oct. 27.
The trilateral contact group is a group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that was formed as means to facilitate a diplomatic resolution to the war in the Donbas region.
