JAKARTA, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Athletes of parachuting from Malaysia, South Korea, Australia and Indonesia started on Monday competing in an international parachuting championship in Indonesia, the organizing committee of the event said.
The Manado International Open Parachuting Championship took places in Manado, the provincial capital of North Sulawesi, and will end on October 22, the head of the committee named only Chaidir said.
Indonesia dispatched a total of 112 clubs in the international event, he was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.
The event aims to promote parachuting sport along the local people and nearby areas and tourism in the province, said Chaidir.
