YANGON, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- About 17,143 Myanmar migrant workers went abroad to work in September, the official Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper reported Saturday.
Of them, about 15,805 were sent to Thailand while 692 to South Korea, 346 to Japan, 267 to Malaysia and the rest 33 to Singapore, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and China's Macao Special Administrative Region.
Meanwhile, about 16,400 migrant workers worked locally. Of them, 10,957 were offered in Yangon region while 1,563 in Bago, 1,231 in Mandalay, 469 in Magway and the rest 2,239 in other regions and states.
The Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population is also offering job opportunities for workers at home and abroad via a new online labor exchange management system.
