KIEV, June 30 (Xinhua) -- A building of Donetsk University of Economics and Trade has partially collapsed in Ukraine's eastern city of Donetsk, causing no casualties, local media reported on Friday.

The four-story building came down at around 7:00 p.m. local time (1600 GMT) on Thursday for reasons still unknown, said DAN news agency, which is controlled by pro-independence insurgents.

"At the moment, two main versions of the incident are considered: the detonation of the explosive device and the impact of natural factors together with the dilapidated state of the building," DAN said, citing its source from the investigative commission.

The heavy rainfall in Donetsk could be behind the collapse, it added.

On late Thursday, a senior insurgent commander Eduard Basurin said that sabotage attack could be behind the demolition of the building.

Donetsk city is the main insurgent stronghold in eastern Ukraine, which has long been the epicenter of the more-than-three-year conflict between the rebels and the government army.
