ATHENS, June 11 (Xinhua) -- A village in northern Greece was evacuated and will be relocated after a mine collapse in the area, which caused no injuries, national news agency AMNA reported on Sunday.
Greek Energy Minister Yorgos Stathakis made the announcement after a meeting with local authorities and people affected.
The village of Anargyroi at the outskirts of Amyntaio town, some 540 kilometers north of Athens, was evacuated during the weekend and will be demolished and relocated after a major landslide at the nearby lignite mine operated by Greece's state-owned Public Power Corporation on Saturday.
At least ten houses suffered extensive damage when about 80 million cubic meters of soil shifted some three kilometers further.
The 180 villagers have been transferred to hotels, as experts assess the damage.
