Tokyo stocks open higher as Wall Street's solid tone ticks over

TOKYO, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as investor sentiment was bolstered by a strong tone set by Wall Street at the end of last week.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 49.60 points, or 0.25 percent, from Friday to 19,992.86.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 4.36 points, or 0.27 percent, to 1,600.40.

Mining, service and pharmaceutical-linked stocks comprised those that advanced the most in early trade.
