U.S. Central Command chief visits Lebanon to discuss security issues

BEIRUT, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Joseph L. Votel on Tuesday visited Lebanon to meet with Lebanese Armed Forces and government leaders to discuss key security issues.

The U.S. embassy in Lebanon said in a statement that "General Votel will reaffirm the U.S. government's commitment to the Lebanese-American partnership to counter the threat of terrorism and support the Lebanese Armed Forces in their role as the sole defender of Lebanon."
