Sri Lankan President to visit Australia to strengthen ties

COLOMBO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for an official visit to Australia Tuesday to hold discussions with Australian leaders and further strengthen ties between the two countries, the President's media division said here Monday.

Sirisena will be carrying out the visit following an invitation extended by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Sirisena will be in Australia for three days, during which he will be meeting with Turnbull and other high ranking officials.

The meeting between Australian Prime Minister Turnbull and President Sirisena is scheduled to be held in Canberra on May 25.

According to reports, Sirisena will also hold discussions with Australian Minister of Immigration and Emigration Peter Dutton and Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.
