WASHINGTON, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The United States on Thursday designated Mubarak Mohammed A Alotaibi, deputy leader of the Islamic State's affiliate in Saudi Arabia, as global terrorist.

"Today's action notifies the U.S. public and the international community that Alotaibi has committed, or poses a significant risk of committing, acts of terrorism," the State Department said in a statement.

Alotaibi, 31, was born in Saudi Arabia and is based in Syria.
