TOKYO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Japan's core consumer prices declined for a fifth successive month in December, the government said in a report on Friday.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, core consumer prices dropped 1.0 percent in the recording period from a month earlier.
The latest reading comes on the heels of core consumer prices, excluding volatile fresh food items, retreating 0.9 percent in November.
In 2020, the core consumer price index's median decline was 0.2 percent, marking the first fall in four years, the statistics bureau said. Enditem
