Two UEFA Champions League matches postponed due to COVID-19

LONDON, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matches of Manchester City vs Real Madrid and Juventus vs Olympique Lyonnais have been postponed, the governing body of European football announced on Thursday.

The second leg of Manchester City's last-16 tie against Real Madrid is scheduled to take place on 17 March at Etihad Stadium. But the Spanish powerhouse have to ask their squad to be quarantined after a player from the club's basketball team tested positive for coronavirus, as they share a training ground.

The game between Juventus and Olympique Lyonnais is also scheduled on next Tuesday, but Juventus's squad have to enter quarantine after defender Daniele Rugani tested positive for coronavirus.

UEFA will hold a meeting next Tuesday to discuss European football's response to the outbreak of COVID-19. Discussions will include all domestic and European competitions, including UEFA EURO 2020.
