GAZA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Two more Palestinians were killed on Wednesday in two separate Israeli airstrikes on central and eastern Gaza amid tension between Israel and the Islamic Jihad movement, medics said.

Gaza Health Ministry said in statements that two Palestinian young men were killed in Israeli airstrikes, one in central Gaza Strip and the other in eastern Gaza City.

The statement said that since the start of the wave of tension on Tuesday, 12 Palestinians were killed and more than 50 injured during the series of intensive Israeli airstrikes waged on the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave.

Gaza militants resumed on Wednesday launching rockets and projectiles from Gaza into Israel, where Israeli fighting planes continued airstrikes on posts and facilities that belong to Islamic Jihad and other militants in Gaza.

Israeli media reported on Wednesday that more than 200 projectiles and rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel since Tuesday morning, adding that severe destruction was caused, but no severe injuries were reported.

The new wave of violent tension broke out on Tuesday after Israel killed senior Islamic Jihad militant Baha Abu al-Atta and his wife in an airstrike on his house in eastern Gaza City.

The Islamic Jihad vowed revenge and launched barrages of rockets and projectiles into Israel.
