BERLIN, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen shared the points following an offensively-minded affair between the two sides in the 9th round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

Hosts Leverkusen were the more dominant team but still, Bremen turned the tides in the second half before Lucas Alario's equalizer secured the hosts one point in front of home crowd.

"There were a lot of things we did not right today. We have already played better. I think we improved in the second half but we lacked in luck," Leverkusen head coach Peter Bosz said.

The hosts caught a perfect start and had to thank former teammate Omer Toprak, who cleared the ball into the wrong goal to break the deadlock for Bayer Leverkusen.

Bosz' men continued to put Bremen on the back foot nevertheless the visitors were able to stun Leverkusen with the equalizer out of the blue before the break. Milot Rashica shrugged off Leverkusen's Julian Baumgartlinger and rifled the deflected ball past goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.

After the half time, Bremen came out highly motivated and turned the tides with just three minutes into the second half as Joshua Sargent's square pass from the wing allowed Davy Klaassen to make it 2-1 on the scoreboards.

It was a short-lived joy for the "Green-Whites" after Karim Bellarabi raced down the right-wing before curling the ball into the path of Alario, who tapped home into the roof of the net to level the scores at the hour mark.

Leverkusen gained momentum and thought they had grabbed the lead again but Alario's goal was denied by video assistant referee due to a foregone handball in the 71st minute.

The hosts continued on the front foot but their efforts remained fruitless as Bremen were able to protect the draw until the final whistle.

With the draw, Bayer Leverkusen climb on the 8th place meanwhile Werder Bremen remain on the 12th position.

The following fixtures conclude the 9th round in Bundesliga on Sunday: unbeaten Wolfsburg encounter Augsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach face Eintracht Frankfurt.
