Chinese swimmers collect a total of 27 golds at Military World Games

WUHAN, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- China turned out a total of 27 gold medals from the swimming competitions, leading the medal table in the sport, which concluded here Wednesday, at the 7th World Military Games.

On the last day of the five-day swimming competition, Chinese swimmers added five more gold medals as Li Guangyuan took the men's 200m backstroke in 1:56.88, Chen Jie claimed victory in women's 50m backstroke in 27.81, Yu Jingyao snatched gold in women's 100m breaststroke in 1:07.17, Wang Jianjiahe finished fastest in women's 800m freestyle in 8:24.82.

The host team won the mixed 4X100m medley relay in 3:43.64 to give China the last title in swimming. Leonardo De Deus of Brazil won the men's 200m butterfly in 1:56.81 and Sergii Frolov of Ukraine triumphed in men's 1500m freestyle in style, clocking 15:01.82.

Yang Junxuan became the biggest winner in the pool as the Chinese wrapped up altogether seven gold medals.

China led the medal table of swimming with 27 golds, 14 silvers and eight bronzes. Russia finished second with seven golds, 10 silvers and 10 bronzes and Brazil in third with four golds, nine silvers and six bronzes.
