LONDON, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The British government's Brexit bill on Tuesday won the support in parliament, clearing its first hurdle in a vote of 329 to 299, but a key timetable vote is yet to come.

British lawmakers voted by a majority of 30 to okay the Withdrawal Agreement Bill in the second reading in the House of Commons.

The voted kicked off at around 7:00 p.m. BST on Tuesday after a heated debate.

Lawmakers now moved on to voting on the program motion, which, if passed, will give them three days to consider the bill in the House of Commons.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tabled this motion with an attempt to fast-track the Brexit agreement.
