BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Seven classic Chinese films will be screened in 18 cinemas in Beijing from Aug. 16 to 31, reminding the audience of the shining moments in China's history of cinematic arts.

The films include some of the best works of Chinese filmmakers, such as "Zhang Ga the Soldier Boy (Xiao Bing Zhang Ga)," a 1963 drama film following the life of a boy during the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and "The Dream Factory (Jia Fang Yi Fang)," a 1997 comedy film directed by renowned Chinese director Feng Xiaogang.

The films either represent the film styles of their times, or reflect the characteristics of a specific period of time or group of people.

Audiences can watch the films at a price of no more than 30 yuan (about 4.3 U.S. dollars) a ticket during the screening activity, which is part of a series of public cultural activities initiated by the Beijing municipal government.
