PARIS, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Unrest and violence originating among protestors in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) are intolerable. They trouble the economic order and go against the interests of all the inhabitants there, said Pierre Picquart, a French China expert.

"In Hong Kong, for several weeks, aggressions and provocations caused by protesters is worrying and the demonstrators make use of illegitimate and unheard violence toward the forces of order," said Picquart, a doctor in geopolitics and human geography at the University of Paris VIII.

The acts of violence are a cause for concern, according to Picquart.

Picquart said that "the protesters denounce a weakening of the liberty of expression. And yet, they demonstrate freely for weeks and manipulate media."

Picquart said the situation in Hong Kong was about "interference" and "manipulation" against China, "coming from external forces."

"While China does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, (other) nations should speak and act with prudence and cease to intervene in the internal affairs of China under the pretext of the situation of Hong Kong," he said.

This interference is unacceptable given the peaceful policies of China and the history of western colonialism, Picquart said.

Many demonstrators do not have a good knowledge of the history of China, said Picquart. "Some among them even argue for the return to British colonization."

"Do they know the history of China? That of western invasions, of crimes committed against China or the Opium War?" the China specialist asked.

He said that thanks to the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people became richer and the country grows stronger.

He added that many Hong Kong residents support the HKSAR government and the central government.

"Here, in Hong Kong, it's a prosperous, free, safe place and all the citizens can work, live and take advantage of a carefree life," he said.

"These Hong Kong citizens, in the majority, are against illegitimate violence and external manipulations," he said. "They are proud to be Chinese."
