LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- At least one person has been confirmed dead and two others sustained injuries as a blast hit a private health clinic in the southern Helmand provincial capital Lashkar Gah on Tuesday, provincial governor's spokesman Omar Zawak said.

According to the official, the blast took place at around 06:00 p.m. local time and the killed person was a police officer who served as medical practitioner in Helmand's prison. (Afghanistan-Blast)

BAKU -- The 44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO will be held in 2020 in the Chinese city of Fuzhou, Fujian province, said Abulfas Garayev, chairman of the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Baku on Tuesday.

CAIRO -- At least 12 people were killed on Tuesday in a trucks collision in Giza Province, west of the Egyptian capital Cairo, state-run Ahram newspaper reported.

TOKYO -- The Japanese government will not appeal a court ruling handed down recently in Kumamoto Prefecture awarding the state to pay compensation to former leprosy patients' families, local media said Tuesday.

The Kumamoto District Court in late June ordered the government to pay damages to the tune of around 370 million yen (3.4 million U.S. dollars) and in doing so ruling in favor of 541 plaintiffs. (Japan-Gov't-Leprosy) Enditem
