JERUSALEM, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday that his country will participate in the U.S.-led economic conference in Bahrain later in June.

"Israel will be represented at Bahrain economic workshop in a way that will be decided later on," Katz wrote on his Twitter, after speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the Jerusalem Post convention in New York.

"Israel has the ability to contribute to the development of the region with technology, (innovation,) and other ways," he wrote.

It was the first time an Israeli official addressed Israel's participation in the meeting, in which the first part of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan for peace between Israel and the Palestinians will be presented.

The meeting, on June 25-26, would outline the U.S. proposal to boost the Palestinian economy.

Palestinian officials have declined the meeting, citing a pro-Israeli bias from the White House.

Trump's plan reportedly does not include the establishment of a Palestinian state, which is a major Palestinian demand.
