NEW DELHI, June 13 (Xinhua) -- The "very severe" cyclonic storm Vayu, which was likely to hit India's western coastal areas on Thursday forenoon, has changed its course and is now expected to run along the coast of India's western state of Gujarat in the afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

It is very likely to move north-northwestwards for some time and then northwestwards skirting the Saurashtra coast affecting Gir Somnath, Diu, Junagarh, Porbandar and Devbhoomi Dwarka with wind speed 135-145 km per hour gusting to 160 km per hour from Thursday's afternoon, the IMD said.

On Wednesday, cyclonic winds in the financial capital Mumbai (in the south western state of Maharashtra) blew off advertising hoarding, killing a 62-year-old man at the city's Churchgate station. In another incident, three women were injured in suburban Bandra.
