Namibia to host int'l conference on technical vocational education training

WINDHOEK, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Namibia will host an international conference on Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) under the theme "TVET as catalyst to economic transformation and industrialization" from April 3 to 6 in Windhoek.

The conference is expected to bring together on a single platform local and international industry representatives, TVET institutions and other critical stakeholders, Namibia Training Authority said in a press statement Monday.

They are expected to share TVET experiences and debate pertinent skills and economic development issues affecting the sector, according to the statement.

"TVET experience around the globe are abundant well documented and can be shared to enhance and improve quality in other similar systems. This conference will essentially position TVET as the backbone for industrialization."

"Furthermore it is excepted to critically analyze the role of skills competitions in terms of standards development, capacity building, closing skills gap and overall TVET quality improvements," it said.
