DHAKA, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- A Bangladeshi minister has commended China for its achievements in the past 40 years, saying that Bangladesh is expected to draw on its experience.

Congratulating China on the 40th anniversary of its reform and opening-up, Bangladeshi Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon told Xinhua in a recent interview that the policy has yielded a great success for China especially under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.

"We admire the remarkable achievements of the great Chinese nation," said Menon, who is also the chairman of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh, an ally of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ruling alliance.

With reference to Xi's speech at the grand gathering celebrating the anniversary on Tuesday, he said China and its leadership deserve a big round of applause particularly for their efforts in adopting and upholding the socialist economic system with Chinese characteristics.

The minister also expressed hope that China could help countries in need solve problems like poverty.

The minister also said a large global audience has been encouraged by the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, proposed by President Xi.

Meanwhile, he said China's Belt and Road Initiative is helping scores of countries and regions including Bangladesh realize their dreams.

"China's peaceful rise will be a blessing for the world to promote common peace and progress," he added.
