BEIRUT, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese army arrested on Tuesday two Syrian refugees in Mimas, Marjeyoun, for illegally entering Lebanon from Syria, local media reported.

The arrested Syrians were referred to the police in Marjeyoun for investigations and other legal procedures, according to Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.

The Lebanese government has barred the UN refugee agency from registering Syrian refugees as well as placed additional restrictions on their entry into the country without guarantors, work visas or visas for transit since 2015.

These measures led to a rise in the number of Syrian refugees attempting to enter Lebanon illegally.
