BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Ten of China's major e-commerce companies signed a commitment on Wednesday to safeguard consumers' rights and interests.

Online retailers including Alibaba, JD.com and Ctrip promised to run their businesses honestly by fighting fake products and protecting user data, adding that they will urge third-party sellers to observe relevant laws and regulations.

Credibility on the Internet has become a major societal concern, said Zhao Hui, an official with the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the China Federation of Internet Societies (CFIS).

Zhao noted that the CFIS will carry out joint efforts with social organizations and Internet enterprises to promote honesty and credibility on the Internet.
