UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Friday that China's way of development has brought about tremendous changes to the country and has provided the world with opportunities for shared development.

Speaking at the General Debate of the 73rd session of the General Assembly, Wang recalled China's reform and opening up for the past 40 years, during which China worked hard and forged ahead successfully along a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

"This path has brought fundamental changes to China," said Wang.

For past four decades, China's foreign trade has registered an average annual growth of 14.5 percent, providing a lasting impetus to the world economy and a huge Chinese market.

China is confident that it will continue to maintain a good momentum in the economy, strive to achieve high-quality development, speed up efforts to build an advanced economic system. China's development creates more trade opportunities for the world and provides a better investment environment for other countries, he said.

Wang, who is also China's state councilor, said that Chins is "going forward." China will not reverse course or shut the door. China will open wider to the world and will not erect market barriers but will expand access to the Chinese market, said the Chinese foreign minister.

"Of all developing countries in the world, China has been the fastest in opening up to a level that is unparalleled by others," he said, adding that when it comes to overall tariff reduction, China has accomplished more than what it committed when joining the WTO.

The breadth of China's openness in service trade is close to the average level of developed countries, he said.
