LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- APL, one of the world's leading ocean carriers, launched a weekly China-Los Angeles ocean freight service, the Global Trade magazine reported Monday.

According to the report, the first cargo run by APL's new premium delivery service, Eagle Express X (EXX), had arrived at Los Angeles Port.

The world's third-largest container transportation and shipping company said this service promised a time-guaranteed transit from China to Los Angeles, inclduing 11 days from Shanghai and 12 days from Ningbo, with attractive price and 100 percent guaranteed space and equipment in port.

"The Eagle Express X is yet another way that we are responding to the evolving needs of our cargo customers," Gene Seroka, executive director at the Port of Los Angeles, told the Global Trade magazine.

The report also said the Los Angeles Port developed in partnership a first-of-its-kind cloud-based portal in the world that digitizes maritime shipping data for cargo owners and supply chain stakeholders through secure access channels.

The Los Angeles Port is the largest U.S. container port. Seroka disclosed at a seminar sponsored by the Harbor Trucking Association this June that China accounts for 60 percent of the port's trade volume.
