China gourmet festival held in Myanmar

YANGON, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- "Spring Line China Gourmet Festival" kicked off Friday in Myanmar' s Yangon aiming to introduce Chinese traditional cuisines to Myanmar people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony at the Park Royal Hotel, Sun Jianhua, deputy director of Education, Culture and Tourism division of ASEAN-China Center (ACC) said that the gourmet festival aims not only to exchange food cultures between the two countries, but also to promote the ASEAN-China relations as this year marks the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership.

To introduce the Myanmar traditional food as well as Myanmar's resources of tourism, culture and arts to Chinese people, Myanmar Gourmet festival will also be launched in Beijing this year, he added.

Tian Shanting, Chinese Embassy Cultural Counselor expressed his beliefs that the gourmet festival could be a part of sharing the understandings of different cultures of the two countries.

Sponsored by ASEAN-China Center (ACC) and organized by Beijing Min Zu Hotel and Park Royal Hotel (Yangon), the festival offering Chinese traditional cuisines and national banquets cooked by Chinese Chef teams from Beijing Min Zu Hotel will be held until Feb. 17.

Established in 2011, ACC is an inter-governmental organization set up by the governments of countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China to cooperate in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, and information and public relations.
