GAZA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were killed and 10 others wounded on Thursday during clashes with Israeli troops, local sources said.

Ashraf al Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza, said in a text message sent to reporters, that a Palestinian young man was killed and five others wounded by Israeli troops' gunfire near the border between eastern Gaza and Israel.

Eyewitnesses and paramedics said dozens of Palestinian demonstrators gathered near the borders east of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, and then clashed with Israeli army forces stationed there.

Protestors waved Palestinian flags and threw stones at the soldiers, who fought back with tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition, they said.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old Palestinian teenager was killed and five others wounded in clashes with Israeli forces on Thursday evening in the village of Iraq Borin near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a short text message.

Tension between Israelis and Palestinians has spiked since last December when U.S. President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and decided to move embassy to the holy city.

Since then, around 15 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,000 others injured during protests, demonstrations and clashes with Israeli army.
