KABUL, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- A senior police official was killed in fighting against anti-government militants in the northwest Badghisp province on Sunday, a local news agency reported Monday.
"Abdul Rasool the police chief of Aab Kamari district lost his life in clash with militants on Sunday night," Khaama Press reported.
The news agency, however, didn't say if Taliban were behind the attack on the police officer.
Both the Taliban and Islamic State group are active in Badghis province.
Anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report.
