AMMAN, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Wednesday pledged continued war on terrorism via holistic and strategic approach to fight all types of extremism, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
On the occasion of the 12th anniversary of Amman bombings that falls on Nov. 9, Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said although the anniversary causes pain and anger to all Jordanians, it was a factor in increasing unity in the face of terrorism.
The anniversary, he said, indicated clearly that terrorists who target innocent civilians seek to tarnish the image of Islam and cause instability in the country.
The minister said Jordan is at the forefront in fighting terrorism as it "actively takes part in the international coalition against terrorism."
He added that Jordan was implementing a comprehensive military, security and ideological strategy to fight terrorism.
The minister said the readiness and preparedness of the armed forces was also key to combat terrorism, stressing that terrorism was a global threat that requires the cooperation of all to stand up to it firmly.
The Amman bombing, coordinated attacks against three of the capital's hotels in November 2005, which were conducted by Al-Qaida in Iraq, unified Jordanians' spirit in the face of terrorism, which for long has been targeting the country's stability and security.
The attacks killed some 60 people and injured 115.
