TIRANA, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on Wednesday revised its projection for Albania's economic growth in 2017, upgrading it to 3.7 percent from its 3.5 percent forecast in May.

In its regional economic prospects report, EBRD added: "Growth is being driven by strong investment, primarily linked with the construction of the gas Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP)."

EBRD's report noted that economic activity in Albania marked an accelerating tendency following the 3.4 percent growth in 2016 where the increase rate of GDP flourished above 4 percent in the first half of 2017.

Meanwhile, EBRD kept unchanged its economic growth forecast for Albania in 2018 at the level of 3.7 percent, the report showed.

The Albanian government expects a growing trajectory of economic growth in upcoming years to reach a 5.5 to 6 percent economic growth by 2020.

Government officials said the report confirms its reforms are starting to yield results.
