TOKYO, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were flat Monday morning as early buying following Wall Street's advance at the end of last week was countered by profit taking following stocks here rising on robust corporate earnings results.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged 2.43 points, or 0.01 percent higher, from Thursday to 22,541.55.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 1.66 points, or 0.09 percent, to 1,792.42.

Mining and marine transportation issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break, whereas nonferrous metal and bank-oriented stocks led decliners.
