Oman insurance firm to expand operations to Kuwait

MUSCAT, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Leading Omani insurer National Life and General Insurance (NLGIC) on Saturday said it has received an approval from Kuwaiti authorities to start its branch operation in Kuwait.

It is the company's second foray outside the Sultanate after the United Arab Emirates, said a company release on Saturday.

"Kuwait is a potential market and we look forward to provide our expertise and best business practices to the people of Kuwait also and replicate our growth story," said S Venkatachalam, chief executive officer of National Life and General Insurance.

NLGIC, which floated a 54 million dollars initial public offering in one month subscription that will close November 20, offers various products in life, general and corporate insurance and is the market leader in medical insurance.

The company currently has more than 190 sales and service touch points across Oman and UAE.
