ANKARA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 98 suspects allegedly linked with the Gulen Movement were arrested on Friday during nationwide operations in Turkey.

Turkish comedian Atalay Demirci and Omer Pekin, who together allegedly performed for Fetullah Gulen, were among those detained.

At least 13 suspects were arrested in central Eskisehir province on the charge of using ByLock, a smartphone app that are reportedly used by Gulen's supporters.

Five on-duty soldiers were arrested during an operation in central Tokat province.

In another operation, 18 suspects were arrested in northwestern Kocaeli province.

Fethullah Gulen, a U.S.-based preacher, is blamed by Ankara for orchestrating a failed coup attempt on July 15 in 2016. At least 250 people were killed and over 2,000 people were injured in the coup attempt.

The Turkish government declared a state of emergency and launched a massive crackdown on Gulen's supporters in the aftermath of the coup attempt.
