Mastermind of deadly terrorist strike on policemen surrenders in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

JAKARTA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- A man who masterminded the deadly attack on policemen in West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia recently has surrendered to the provincial police, police sources said on Friday.

Imam Munandar, alias Nandar, was also accused as the plotter and executor of deadly shooting on two policemen in Bima, the provincial capital of West Nusa Tenggara, on Sept. 11 of this year.

"He surrendered last night (Thursday night)," deputy chief of police in the province Senior Commissioner Tajuddin was quoted by Antara news wire as saying in the province.

During the attack on the policemen, Nandar conducted the execution along with a militant with initial MA.

MA was shot dead in an exchange of fire with anti-terror squad of police in Ambalawi sub-district in the province on Monday.

The deputy chief of police said that Nanda will be sent to Jakarta on Friday for interrogation.

Indonesia has stepped up fight against militants and their radicalism teaching across the nation.

The country has witnessed a spate of suicide strikes in recent years with expansion of their target to police personal.
