RIYADH, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia on Wednesday sanctioned 11 individuals and two entities from Yemen for financing and facilitating the Islamic State in Yemen and the al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), Saudi Press Agency reported.

All property and assets of these persons subject to Saudi Arabia jurisdiction are blocked, and Saudi citizens and residents are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.

The state security presidency highlighted in a statement that the decision was taken in partnership with the United States as the co-chair of the recently established International Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC).

The move is the first taken by the TFTC since its creation in May 2017, aiming at deepening the U.S. partnership with Gulf countries to disrupt the financing of terrorist groups, said the statement.
