NAIROBI, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's opposition leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday withdrew from presidential rerun slated for Oct. 26.

Addressing a news conference in Nairobi, Odinga said his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka will also not take part in the repeat election, citing illegalities and failure by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) to initiate changes to its operations and personnel, who they said bungled the Aug. 8 general elections.

Odinga who was accompanied by co-principals and lawmakers from the National Super Alliance (NASA) said his decision to withdraw from the race was in line with the constitution.

"We have opted out of the presidential elections scheduled for Oct. 26 since the process is faulty," said Odinga, adding that the IEBC has failed to undertake drastic reforms that were required to facilitate free and fair repeat polls.
