U.S. stocks end lower ahead of earnings season

NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks traded in a narrow range and closed lower on Monday, as investors awaited the start of the earnings season.

The Dow inched down 0.06 percent, and the S&P 500 lost 0.18 percent, while the Nasdaq decreased 0.16 percent.
