TOKYO, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 struck off Japan's Fukushima prefecture at 11:56 p.m. local time, Japan Meteorological Agency said on Friday.
The temblor was centered off the shore of Fukushima prefecture in eastern Japan, with the epicenter at a latitude of 37.1 degrees north and a longitude of 141.2 degrees east and at depth of 50 km.
The earthquake logged 5 minus on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7 in some parts of Fukushima prefecture.
So far no major damage or injuries were reported, and no tsunami warning has been issued. Enditem
