LONDON, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.39 percent, or 29.27 points, to close at 7,468.11 points.
Ferguson, a multinational building materials distribution company, soared 3.35 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Ashtead Group and J Sainsbury increased by 3.29 percent and 3.25 percent, respectively.
Admiral Group, one of the UK's largest car insurance providers, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.73 percent.
WPP, a British multinational advertising and public relations company, dropped 2.08 percent. BAE Systems, a British multinational defense, security, and aerospace company, fell 1.67 percent. Enditem
