KIEV, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine plans to tighten protective measures at strategic infrastructure facilities in the wake of explosions at a major military warehouse, a senior Ukrainian parliamentary official said here on Wednesday.

"The authorities will focus not only on the protection of military depots. It is also a signal for strengthening the protection of nuclear power plants and bridges," Iryna Lutsenko, Ukrainian president's representative in the parliament, told reporters.

She said that particular attention will be paid to tightening security on the infrastructure facilities, which are close to the conflict area in eastern Ukraine.

On late Tuesday, a series of blasts ripped through the arms storage facility near the town of Kalynivka, some 250 km southwest of capital Kiev, injuring two people and prompting the evacuation of 30,000 others.

The Ukrainian army spokesman said that the blasts were likely caused by an attack on the depot from an unmanned aerial vehicle.
