TAIPEI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Confidence over inflation, investment and economic prospects continued to rise in September in Taiwan, but concerns lingered, according to the results of a monthly survey announced Wednesday.

The consumer confidence index (CCI), which is based on a survey by the Research Center for Taiwan Economic Development, rose 2.25 points from August to 82.20 points in September, marking a third straight month of CCI increase.

The index consists of six indicators reflecting what people think about the economy over the next six months, in terms of consumer prices, stock market investment, employment, income, the local economic climate and purchases of durable goods.

All the six indicators rose this month, with the biggest increase in consumer prices, which gained 2.9 points from the previous month to 48.6 points.

However, the overall sentiment remained gloomy as the sub-index for the job market was the only one to stay above 100 points.

An indicator between 0 and 100 indicates pessimism while scores between 100 and 200 indicates optimism.

The survey was conducted between September 19 and 21 with 2,530 valid questionnaires.
