Int'l arrivals to Vietnam surge in 9 months

HANOI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam welcomed over 9.4 million foreign visitors in the first nine months of this year, up 28.4 percent on-year, the country's tourism authority announced on Wednesday.

In September alone, Vietnam hosted 975,000 international arrivals, up 19 percent, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The growth was mainly brought by effective promotion campaigns recently launched in key tourism markets of Vietnam such as North Europe, East Asia and South Asia, explained the authority.

Vietnam plans to receive 13 million foreign tourists this year.
