MACAO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Macao's tourism industry will take various measures to cater for the needs of residents and visitors as well as to optimize the tourism environment and service quality, the special administrative region's tourism office said on Tuesday.

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said it has taken a series of measures for the arrival of National Day holiday, such as sending reminders to tourism industry operators and visitors by letter and mobile text message, sharing of information between government departments, scrupulous inspections, food guide publication, as well as sending manpower at tourist spots to provide visitor inquiry service and so forth.

Including eight days in total, the Oct. 1st Golden Week will also cover the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.

MGTO said it will also post visitor arrival figures of every previous day on the Internet between Oct. 2 and 9. Besides, MGTO's website will regularly publish the declared room rates of local hotels and guest houses in all room categories.

During the long holiday, the tourism office will conduct more thorough inspections at different local tourist attractions, ports of entry and districts with police authorities to combat illegal accommodation. It will also share information with the Consumer Council, Public Security Police Force, Macao Customs Service, Marine and Water Bureau and Transport Bureau.

The National Day holiday in 2016 saw 770,000 tourist arrivals from Oct. 1 to 7. Among them, over 720,000 tourist arrivals were from the mainland, the Hong Kong SAR and China's Taiwan.
